Now that the Boston Red Sox have won their second world series in four years — both incidentally by sweeps — some in the media are quick to jump on the Red Sox dynasty bandwagon. Here are a few samples of the dynasty talk. Of course this was just the thing needed to spark the latest Witty Banter moment.
Bryan: Weird how all these pundits are now saying Boston is built to be the next dynasty and how they are so great. How soon they forget they were on the verge of a 3-1 elimination?
Another team probably would have closed the deal or the Indians should have closed the deal. It’s not sour grapes; I am just not ready to anoint them the greatest ever, besides according to the media before the World Series was even played the Rockies had already claimed that title.
Anthony: What media are you listening to? This one is in your head. No one was ever saying the Rockies were the best team ever. All I heard was about that “streak” and going from worst to first.
Bryan: I was being a little sarcastic and poking fun at the over reactive sports media. Every time someone wins it’s the “best ever” or “the greatest (hit, run, pass, comeback, etc.) ever.”
Anthony: And I think you lump everything into one category you old bitty.
Bryan: Tell me that you don’t see the same thing? Last year’s Colts? The best ever. This year’s Pats? Ohh, they are the best ever. The Red Sox? A dynasty. The Rockies? The best streak ever. A-Rod? The best ever. Come on!
Last year, I even heard a sportscaster on ESPN say OSU was the best college team ever the week before they played Florida and we all know how that ended.
Anthony: What makes all of this hilarious is that you just sent me that video of the Division III Trinity Tigers calling it the, “craziest thing you’ve ever seen in sports.” Then you endorsed it as “the most miraculous play in all of college football.”
Bryan: OK, so I am a hypocrite… But it was!
So what do you think? Does the sports media manufacture “best ever” moments? Or are we living during the “best time ever” for sports?

very interesting, but I don’t agree with you
